BEAUTIFUL, WONDERFUL, PARADISIAC, these are the words to describe Fraser Island.

Luckily, the good weather was with us, contrary to last week when the rain didn't stop falling. The travel would have been quite different if it had been bad.

A 4-wheels is obligatory to drive on the island, because no tared roads have been created in order to protect the environment. Speed limit inside the island : 35 km/h. On the coast : 80 km/h. Driving on the sand is very funny ! But it takes a longer time than on tar.

There are several lakes in the island. I saw 2 closely and another one by distance. I obviously went (for the people who khow it) to the Fraser Island's most famous lake, the Lake Mc Kenzie. White sand, transparent water, magical water's colours ! (You have to see the photographs to understand what I'm talking about. I'd like to precise that I didn't correct them before !)

After a tough day of discoveries, we spent the night in one of the "Resort" station, like a hotel, where each room contains beds, bathroom, television and even a little kitchen. This is a very "nature" place, surrounded by palm trees and exotic trees. It possess a tennis court and a swimmingpool. Unfortenately, we didn't have enough time to take advantage of it.

On Saturday, we returned to the Lake Mc Kenzie, then we came back to the coast, in Hervey Bay, by ferry.

On Sunday, departure for the last trip on one of the boats reserved to the wahles watching, near Fraser Island. The rule says that each boat have to keep a certain distance from the closest whale (100m). It's up to the whale then to come closer if it wants to. Firstable, the whales were a little bit shy and stayed on gap. But suddenly, 2 whales appeared next to the boat, a mother and her baby, then we could observe their very special face and the colours of their skin. Before going back, they did a little show, started to jump and then we saw the famous whale's tail landing on the water, like we can see in the books... !
